Saturday 6 January

Was a warm day so managed to get most of the important stuff done in the morning.

Watched Kill Bill Vol 1 on Saturday night thinking that this would be a good move for *MOTH to get into and perhaps enjoy watching the series of Kill Bill movies, oh how wrong could I have been, “the violence is over the top”, “the movie is to slow”, “what do you mean she still has more movies before she kills them all” and on it went so needless to say the next instalment I will be watching on my own 😊

Sunday 7 January

Another warm day and luckily not much to do.

Not much achieved as it got warm outside quickly.

I have started watching Yellowjackets on Netflix and 3 episodes in I am enjoying it. If you haven’t heard it is a thriller, horror kind of series and I am interested in seeing where it goes.

Once a year we treat ourselves to KFC and we decided today would be the day, and well needless to say we bought to much and the leftovers will do us for a couple of meals 😊

I did whip up a potato salad to have with some chicken for dinner but other than that I hardly went near the kitchen the whole weekend.

BIG NEWS IS THAT I LEARNED THAT YOU CAN HARD BOIL EGGS IN THE AIRFRYER. 👊

FOR 4 EGGS YOU JUST PUT THEM IN THE AF BASKET, SET TEMP AT 120 AND TIMER FOR BETWEEN 12 AND 15 MINUTES….THIS PRODUCES THE MOST PERFECT HARD BOILED EGGS WITH OUT HAVING TO REMEMBER TO CHECK THE TIME IF YOU DO THEM IN A POT OF BOILING WATER.

Monday to Friday (Boring Work Week)

• Work, Sleep, Repeat
• A couple of hospital appointments for MOTH (Just check ups)
• Online grocery shopping done and should be delivered by the time I get home tonight

Well it is going to be a hot few days here in Perth (this is Celsius), so going to be out and about early tomorrow morning then home with the air conditioner sitting on a pleasant 24 degrees, with maybe a wine or two in the evening.  

Oh and a co-worker recommended The Wire so might give that a go Saturday evening. 

I Think I missed 2023

Sunday Sunday Week Ending 25 July

After a week off my week at work was business as usual after wading through almost 200 emails I could then get back into my work.

We are currently going through an organisational review and while no one will lose their jobs some jobs functions will change...me included but I am looking forward to it, we have had so many changes in our workplace over the last 4 or so years that I just roll with it.

Last weekend Netflix dropped the Harry Potter movies so I have been working my way through them for the umpteenth time LOL.

My July subscription box still hasn't arrived and I have contacted the business owners and they are working on sending me out a new one....fingers crossed that gets here, it will put me behind as the August one will get mailed out in a couple of weeks but hey I probably need the motivation anyway LOL.

I have been stitching on my Raise the Roof Design and have managed to get a far bit done. It is using overdyed threads but they don't show up to well in my photos.

I am reading Once Upon A Time In Hollywood by Quentin Tarantino, it is a bit different to the movie but a good read.

So really life is continuing on even though we have closed our borders to most other Australian states due to Delta running rampant especially in New South Wales....but dont' get me started on that!😡

And as today is Sunday and we don't have to go anywhere I am having a pyjama day 😅

Already Mid July aka Half Way Through Winter

Last Sunday we had cold fronts come through and it was very wet and windy and our bedroom ceiling decided to spring a leak, water was coming down the wall and entering the light switch so of course when that happened it turned off all the other lights in the house, so we spent the day flicking the main switch back on when things had dried out. (luckily we have a friend that is a retired plumber and he fixed the problem, but we did have to chop down some trees which we now need to get rid off.

  

I woke up the following morning feeling a bit off so took the day off work sick. 

After a short sharp 4 day lockdown we were able to return to the office during the week but had to wear masks, even inside while uncomfortable it is better to be safe than sorry. I don’t do well working from home so it will be great to head back into the office and chat to everyone. 

I finished my latest cross stich 

and my July subscription box should be arriving any day. 

Well my holiday week has been windy and rainy so I haven’t really done much, but up to date on my laundry and other housework. I have been bingeing BlackList as I didn’t watch it past season one when it was on free to air, I love Netflix LOL 

I have also been doing some cross stitch. Someone gifted me this along with the overdyed threads years ago and I have finally started it, I didn’t have any white fabric so used some of my stash so it will be interesting to see how it all pans out. 😊 It is a Raise the Roof Design.

Well I have Saturday afternoon and Sunday left before I have to head back to work so I am going to sit back continue watching Blacklist and make some more progress on Scooba Dooba 😃

Just Popping In

OMG 2020 just got away from me what with one thing and other. (You know what I mean)And we are now half way through 2021! We had been doing great with COVID but we are currently on our second circut breaker lock down of the year, fingers crossed this one finishes midnight Friday. For those of you who don't know a circut breaker lock down is a swift, short lockdown basically you get about 6 hours notice and they last for 3-4 days. You can only leave your house for essential business eg medical appointments, grocery shopping, if you are caring for someone etc. So this means I am working from home at the moment and while I don't get as many distractions from work colleagues I manage to find distractions around the house LOL. On the stitching front I have joined a stitch of the month club and I am just waiting for my third box to arrive. It is from Spruce and Co which is an Australian company and they are small and easy to do. You get fabric, 8 in hoop, 6 in hoop, DMC threads, needle and patterns, I find that they are just what I need at the moment as concentration is not great at the moment. This is what I have done so far.

Other things that have been happening in my small part of the world is it is winter here in Perth and by jeez it is cold, we didn’t ease into winter like other years it was just BANG! WINTER IS HERE! Luckily we are in credit with the electric company as the heater is getting a work out, especially working from home. I finally signed up to Netflix and am enjoying some of the shows that are on, the latest one I am watching is Stranger Things. I don’t mind a bit of horror every now and then and Wynona Ryder is fabulous. Well that was my lunch break so hope to pop in again soon and post again. Blessed Be xx

And Now It Is May

I know I said I was going to post more this year well.... this really hasn't been an ordinary year 😕 has it!

I am lucky to say that here in Western Australia we have had a wonderful Premier who took the lead when the pandemic started and has lead us through it and hopefully out the other side with leadership, humour and a sense of actually caring about what happens to our wonderful State, and I have just read that we have just had our 7th consecutive day without a new case 👍
We are not rushing in reopening everything it is going to be a slow process and we have been warned if we start breaching the 1.5m rule or more than 10 people at a gathering new cases or not we will be back at high level risk again.

I did try working from home for a couple of weeks but headed back into the office as I realised that I am easily distracted when at home and needed the discipline of the office, plus I didn't have a decent office chair to sit in and you couldn't buy one for love nor money in the metro area LOL

We had our first storm of the winter yesterday and it lasted all night and well into today, and as it was dark when I left for work this morning I need to head out into the backyard when I get home and check for any damage. It is our bin day today and normally the bins would go out the night before but I left it till this morning as I didn't need rubbish flying up and down the street LOL.

April was not a very productive month for stitching as I couldn't focus for a few weeks but I am happy to say that I am now back in the zone and have managed to finish page 3 of 6 of Witches Wheel. I am getting mighty sick of all the black so I might have to swap it out for  something a bit more colourful (only on a temporary basis you understand 😁)

We don't normally eat a lot of takeaway so cafe's, restaurants etc being closed has not really had an effect on us, but I have had to be a bit more creative in what I make due to shortages and the price going up on some vegetables and staple grocery items.

I had some bananas going brown on me so I made a 3 ingredient banana bread. It was supposed to be cooked in the slow cooker but my loaf pan wouldn't fit in the slow cooker so I baked it in the oven instead and it turned out pretty good.

The Week That Was

I am watching a new TV series (well new to me anyways LOL)

I didn't watch it the first time around as I thought it would the usual BS but this is brilliant. I am about halfway through season 6 and will be sorry when it ends.




I have picked up this UFO again and need to take another progress pic as I have just finished page 2 and moved onto page 3. I didn't get any done on it on the weekend as I just couldn't be bothered, it was a super busy week at work so took the weekend to recharge my batteries.

Well what else happened last week...………

• I had a minor disagreement with a work colleague who has major time management issues. When I say " I am leaving the office at 3pm on Friday" this doesn't mean I am sitting around waiting for you to finish something at 3.15pm! 
• It is the tail end of summer but temps have still been in the mid 30's celcius and the humidity has been wonderful for my plants.
• We had some pavers collapse and guess who was walking on them when it happened...….yes it was me, just some minor scrapes and bruises but as I don't have any strength in my knees to get myself back up off the ground MOTH had to bring me a stool so that I could lever myself up on to that then I has to sit there while I got my sh*t together before I could stand up.

Long Time No Blog With A Finish

I don't really have an excuse for not blogging so fingers crossed I can get back into the habit!


I have a finish for 2020, and wouldn't you know it, it is the one that my last blog post was about in 2018 LOL.


I still need to figure out how I am going to display it but unless I find at frame at the op shops professional framing will be out.

I have now picked up another UFO, I forgot how enjoyable this one is to stitch on.

 Well that is about it for now and I am going to start writing my next post now and try and make this posting a regular thing :)

Halloween Rules Update and Other Stuff

I am loving stitching this, mind you I love stitching Lizzie Kate designs full stop !!

The original called for using over-dyed threads but I subbed these out for good old DMC.

I haven't attached any of the buttons yet but I will do that at the end.

With rain expected again this weekend I hope to nearly finish the current panel I am working on.

This arrived in my mail box the other week and I have had a quick look through it but I don't want to be distracted while working on Halloween Rules LOL

On a bit of a sad note my brother just sold his bike, it belonged to our dad who is no longer with us, but you have to be practical in life and get rid of things that you no longer want or need.....

Well thats about if for now, hope to be back soon with another update.

Where Has 2018 Gone!

I have been meaning to blog for ages but time is just getting away from me this year.

Things have been so busy in my neck of the woods that weekends are one of those rare treats that come along and they tend to be filled up with doing the things I don't get done during the week.

We are in the mist of winter here in my neck of the woods and I have had a little more time for stitching than normal, this is what I am currently working on.

It is Lizzie Kate Halloween Rules, this my progress after two weekends of stitching. I am looking forward to the end of the month when I am having a week off work and taking a staycation, just me and the dog. *MOTH is heading off on a fishing trip with his mates so I am going to enjoy my week binge watching my favourite tv shows, reading and stitching, cooking will be an option and so will be getting out of my pj's LOL.

Well back to the grind, hope to post again soon.

Happy 2018 and a Finish Already!

A Stitching Group I am in are holding a UFO challenge, as it appears many of us have unfinished projects either to be stitched or completed into an ornament, pillow, be framed etc.

Well the first one I pulled out was my Lizzie Kate Mystery Sampler from 2012.

I think I did do a little bit on it last year but it again may its way to the UFO Black Hole.

I picked it up again on 27 December and it looked like this.....

And after a little bit of frogging on the boarder and completion of the last band, I finally finished it the 7 January.

I must say it was a fun stitch, now I just need to either get it framed or turn it into a wall hanging of some kind.

The next UFO to be bought back to life was this one. (Restarted 8 January)

It is Glendon Place - Witches Wheel.

Admittedly I was on three weeks holiday over the Christmas period and now I am back at work stitching will fall back to maybe on the weekends, but I really want to get this one finished now.

I have also been doing a heap of re-reading and my current binge is the Sookie Stackhouse Series AKA True Blood Series.

I have nearly finished book 11 in the series...

Which leaves me two to go, but I think I bought these on Kindle and as all the others are softback books I am going to have to order the other two but then that will give me the whole series to find a place for on my bookshelves (now that is a whole other problem to deal with LOL).

I went op/charity shopping the other day and apart from picking up some work clothes I managed to get two sets of books, albeit both sets have one book missing grrrrr.

But I can't complain as the books ranged in price from $4 - $2 so all in all a good deal.

So I really think my daily commute reading is set for the next few months.

Progress on Halloween Stitching

Well there was little progress this week as spring has sprung and outside duties are calling.

But I did get a little done Sunday afternoon watching the Australian Moto GP.

I found my stash of Ruffle Yarn this weekend, I have been looking for it for months. So I am now on the hunt for things to do with it beyond the basic scarf as I have done these to death.....so stay tuned.

Was In A Fabulous Swap

I am in the most amazing group on Facebook, it is a place I can go when I don't want to post something on my personal page and I know I will get the love, support and kindness of members of this group.

Well recently they held a craft swap and I received the most fabulous gift......

This is just so cute and I love it.

Now as you probably know from reading this blog my crafty talents are limited so this is what I sent my person......

Life got away from me!

Wow since my last blog post, very early this year things have not gone to plan or gone slowly.

Melbourne

I went to Melbourne in June to celebrate my mothers 75th birthday. She lives in New Zealand and as I live in Perth we thought we would meet half way. It was a fabulous long weekend spent with family in a city that I love.

I have never been a big sampler girl but I am really enjoying this one.

I am not doing the full width of the sampler as I didn't have a piece of fabric large enough as the last few years I have cut back on buying stash and am trying to just stitch with what I have on hand.

Whats Been Happening In My Part Of The World

Amazing Sunsets have been occurring, thanks to the summer heat.

This was a few weeks ago and last night we were treated to this..........

This ended in a summer storm complete with thunder, lightening and about 4mm of rain.

Now onto the food front.

I managed to get some figs off my tree before the wildlife got to them. They are tiny but tasty.

Last weekend was spent making pickled onions, would you believe that it is actually a two day process!

Well that is about it for now, hope to have some crafty posts very shortly.
