A Rough Couple of Weeks

Hi Everyone well I am back but this will just be a short post to update you on a couple of things........then I hope to be back posting as normal next week or weekend.

On the 18 February my dad passed away after a 10 month battle with cancer, he was a great dad and we shared a special bond as I was his first born and also born on his birthday so each year from now on my birthday will be more special than ever.

I flew out to New Zealand (Christchurch) arriving on the 21 February along with my brother and his family.

Tuesday 22 February a 6.5 earthquake happened in Christchurch and basically wrecked my home town, luckily none of my family or friends were seriously injured but some of them did lose their houses.

My dads memorial service was the 24 February but many people couldn't make it due to the earthquake and the damage to the roads etc, but it was still a wonderful day.

Needless to say the last couple of weeks have been a bit of a blur due to death, earthquakes and lack of sleep but one of the best things to happen was a phone call from my girlfriend of 20+ years from the UK she tracked me down at my mums house to make sure that we were all ok as I couldn't get on the internet due to no power and a lack of internet cafes.

I hope that you all stick with me over the next couple of posts as I post some amazing things that came out of the visit back home for me and I promise not to dwell on this subject for to long.

  3. This has truly been a difficult time for you. I know the blogging world is praying for you and know that you'll be back when the time is right. Be sure to take care of yourself and your family during this time - the trials will be there, but you need to keep up your strength to be able to deal with it all.

My best to you in moving on to the next chapter without your loving father.
